Opposition MP David Lee is reportedly facing criminal charges of misbehaviour in public office and conspiracy to defraud.
The charges surround the purchase of a $2.3 million Mercedes-Benz and whether the $1.4 million in tax exemptions derived may have benefited a party financier.
The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, today, gave the instructions for the two charges to be laid against Lee.
David Lee was then detained by investigators and charged.
He was taken before a justice of the peace and bail was set at $1 million to cover both charges; he was later released.
