Officers of the Morvant CID are investigating the shooting of a mentally ill woman on Wednesday night.
Around 7:50pm, the 48-year-old woman was in the living room of her home at upper Ninth Avenue, Morvant, when a masked gunman entered the house and shot at her twice.
Neighbours heard the gunshots, called the police and took her to the hospital.
Reports are that the woman had a tendency to wander into the yards and homes of nearby residents and had been warned not to do so again by some of them. Police suspect the shooting might be related to one such incident.
The woman is warded at hospital in a critical condition.
