Moruga man to appear in court for murder

A Moruga man is expected to appear before a Princes Town Magistrate today, charged with the murder of Anton Bacchus, which occurred on Friday 3rd June, 2022.

Bevon Mollineau, 42, of Edward Trace, was charged with the offence following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on Monday 31st October, 2022.

Bacchus, 44, a security guard, also of Moruga, was in the vicinity of a bar in the area on Thursday 2nd June, 2022, when he got into an altercation with another man. During the incident, the victim was allegedly stabbed multiple times about the body.

He was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital, where he died on Friday 3rd June, 2022.

A male suspect was arrested in connection with the incident on October 27th, 2022, in the Moruga district.

Investigations were supervised by Insp. Jones of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region Three.

Mollineau was charged by WPC Rampersad, also of HBI Region Three, on Monday 31st October, 2022.
