Moruga man fined $10,000 for marijuana charge

A Moruga man was fined $10,000 after pleading guilty to the charge possession of cannabis.

In default, he would have to serve nine months in prison.

DONEIL ALEXANDER, 23, of La Lune Road, Moruga, pleaded guilty to the charges when he appeared before Princes Town Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine today, May 6th 2021.

Between 10 pm on May 5th, and 1 am on May 6th 2021, ALEXANDER was found in possession of 860 grams of marijuana during an exercise as part of Operation Strike Back.

The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Lucia Winchester, spearheaded by ASP Ramdass and supervised by Sergeants Joseph and Charles and Cpl. (Ag.) Phoolchan.
