In March 2022, 35-year-old Surita Aruna Deosaran was pursued by gunmen while driving along the Moruga Road, St Mary’s Village.
In that incident, Deosaran escaped with a gunshot wound to her neck after the gunmen forced her vehicle to collide with a tree before approaching her vehicle and unloading a volley of shots.
She was less fortunate this time as she and her husband, 44-year-old Nigel Chance, were both shot dead when gunmen stormed their home.
The couple was reportedly downstairs in the kitchen area of their home around 4.40 pm when a white AD wagon drove into the yard and several explosions were heard.
Deosaran’s father, who lives next door, ran to the couple’s home after hearing the explosions and saw them bleeding from gunshot wounds.
The couple is survived by their 8 year old son who was not at home at the time of the shooting.
Police have not yet ascertained a motive for the shooting.
Police were also investigating two separate murders in Morvant and Arima Wednesday night.
