Moratorium on tint regulation extended to December 31st, 2021

The moratorium on the operationalisation of the new Windscreen and Window tint regulations 2020 has been further extended to December 31st 2021.

According to the Works Ministry, this has been deemed necessary due to current COVID-19 restrictions.

This includes the limited movement of persons and the closure of some businesses such as tint shops and auto garages.

The Ministry anticipates that the approximately seven-month extension would allow motorists to become compliant with the law before it is fully operationalized.

The new law requires the following levels of visible light transmittance from tint:

Windscreen – at least 70%
Windscreen’s Anti-Glare Band or Visor – at least 35%
Front windows (driver and passenger) – at least 35%
Rear windows (including side windows) – at least 20%
Rear windscreen – at least 20%
