Moonilal Calls On National Security Minister To Apologise For “Politicking” Two National Institutions

Member of Parliament for Oropouche East, Dr Roodal Moonilal has accused National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds of compromising independent national institutions by making a politically partisan address while at a formal function with the heads of these agencies.

In a statement on Wednesday, Dr Moonilal said this was a gross example of impropriety and misconduct that Minister Hinds delivered, what he described as, a flamingly biased and opinionated speech at an official State event in which he sat between the leaders of the Prisons Service and Police Service.

He said the Prisons and Police Services are critical institutions of law and order, and must be respected as fiercely independent and politically impartial.

Dr Moonilal has called upon Minister Hinds to apologise to both leaders and to the people of Trinidad and Tobago, saying failure to do so would confirm his ill intent to subvert and weaken the country’s law enforcement organisations.
