MoH seeking proof Pfizer vaccines were privately brought into TT

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is calling on anyone with information on reports of the Pfizer vaccine being privately brought into the country to come forward.

The call was issued on Wednesday by CMO Dr Roshan Parasram, at the MOH press briefing.

This follows the revelation by south businessman Clint Arjoon, that one company secured and imported Pfizer vaccines last month.

Arjoon, who owns the Clint Arjoon Group of Companies, was on The Morning Edition programme when he made the claim and he said had reported the matter to Dr Parasram and Health officials.

The businessman said he gave the CMO the name of the company but would not reveal it to the public “until they make use of it”.

Dr Parasram told the media yesterday “It (Pfizer) has not been imported through Government, legal channels. I have confirmed with the head of the Food and drug this morning (yesterday) that no request has been made to his department for importation and no approval has therefore been given,” Parasram said.

“So if someone brought in Pfizer, it would be through illegal channels,” he said.

Parasram also asked for those with information on this issue to come forward.
