MoH: Private entities can purchase Covid19 vaccines

Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh has reiterated that private entities are allowed to purchase COVID-19 vaccines for their employees once certain criteria are met.

Deyalsingh made the comment at Saturday’s Ministry of Health media briefing, following a release from the Ansa McAl group, which stated it will be acquiring the shots for its staff.

The regional conglomerate said it decided that it will be freely offering the COVID-19 vaccine to every one of its 6,000 members of staff and their immediate families once the vaccine becomes available.

“The Group expresses the belief that this measure of support and concern for the ANSA McAL family of staff will go a long way towards returning the country to a semblance of normalcy,” ANSA McAl stated.

Deyalsingh said government welcomes any initiative by the private sector to vaccine employees and clarifies that it is allowed, under certain conditions.

However, Deyalsingh warns that employees cannot be forced to take the vaccine.
