The Ministry of Health has not been approached for advice on the closure of schools.
This was the response of the Health Minister, Terrence Deyalsingh, after a question was posed today about whether his ministry can advise the Ministry of Education, to delay the opening of schools come September, in light of the spike in cases of Covid 19 and the shut down of three primary schools.
Deyalsingh said all his ministry can do is provide any advice needed, but it has not been approached for that where school’s are concerned.
As it stands now, they do not yet see the need.
Parents are concerned in light of the shutdown of these three schools and some are questioning whether the re-opening of school in September should be delayed.
TTUTA and NAPSPA have stated that the situation is being monitored.
