Minister Young Visits Suriname For Meetings And Energy Conference

A number of initiatives related to energy security and possibilities of collaboration between Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname in the energy sector will be discussed when  Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Stuart Young, takes part in  a number of high-level meetings.

Minister Young will also attend the Suriname Energy, Oil & Gas Summit & Exhibition 2022.

Whilst there Minister Young is expected to meet with the President of Suriname, Chandrikapersad Santokhi and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Albert Ramdin.

Minister Young is also expected to meet with, President of Guyana, Dr Mohammed Irfaan Ali, whilst in Suriname to hold similar discussions.

The Minister will participate as a speaker in a Ministerial Roundtable Panel Discussion at the Energy Summit on Tuesday with the topic being “A Bright Future Through Energy”.

On Monday morning, Minister Young and members of the executive management of Heritage Petroleum Company Limited and Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited met with the Managing Director/ CEO of Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. Mr. Anand Jagesar.

The parties discussed areas of collaboration culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the companies formalizing the intention to collaborate.

Minister Young will be in Suriname for two days returning to Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday.

Whilst in Suriname, Colm Imbert, M.P. will act as Minister of Energy and Energy Industries.
