Minister Of Labour Appoints Registration Recognition and Certification Board

Labour Minister, Stephen Mc Clashie, appoints the Registration Recognition and Certification Board.

Members of the newly appointed board received their Letters of Appointment recently at the Ministry’s Head Office located at the International Waterfront Centre, Tower C, Port of Spain.

The board promotes the integrity and credibility of the country’s industrial relations system in the protection of our workforce.

It does this by shaping the collective bargaining structure through its determination of the appropriate and majority trade union to best represent workers, in accordance with Section 33 of the Industrial Relations Act.

Minister Mc Clashie expressed his appreciation to the returning Chairman, Mr. Gregory Baker for selflessly recommitting himself to coordinate the efforts of the board for another term.

The work of the Board also facilitates workers’ right to freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining by joining a trade union of their choice.
