Minister Browne wants peaceful end to detention of Guyanese fishing vessels by Venezuela

Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Dr. Amery Browne conducted frank and open discussions with Ambassador of Venezuela to Trinidad and Tobago, His Excellency Carlos Pérez Silva, on the detention by Venezuela of Guyanese fishing vessels and crew on 21st January, 2021.

The Minister invited Ambassador Pérez Silva to meet this afternoon, given Trinidad and Tobago’s chairmanship of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) from January to June 2021.

According to an official release from the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Minister Browne expressed deep concern on the matter and urged an “immediate and peaceful resolution to this unfortunate development.”
