Manzanilla officers get “licks” from angry mom

Manzanilla police officers felt the wrath of a mother when they tried to stop her from beating her children with a pot spoon.

Reports indicate that police were called in around 4:00p.m on Monday to a report that a woman was beating her two children aggressively. When they arrived, they saw the woman’s daughters, aged 13 and nine years old, with bruises on their arms. They were both crying. The mother reportedly ran into the kitchen and came out with a knife that she used to try to attack the officers. They disarmed her, but then she hit them on their upper body with her fists. The officers called for assistance from members of the Eastern Division Task Force and the woman was eventually subdued, and detained.

The officers were taken to the Sangre Grande Area Hospital where they were treated for injuries to the back, chest, neck and shoulder. Representatives from the Child Protective Services took the children for treatment; they are also investigating a case of abuse against the children.

The woman is expected to be charged with assault and resisting arrest.
