Management at the UWI Open Campus pursuing measures to ensure the institution can meet its expenses

Management at the University of the West Indies Open Campus is pursuing measures to ensure the institution can meet its expenses in a sustainable manner.

It has hired a consultant to lead a committee in this regard and once the government is apprised of the measures they will be shared with the parliament. The information was provided by the Education Minister in the Senate today.

This after, staff at the UWI Global Campus has complained of late payment of salaries for the months of October and November imposing severe hardships on the employees.

Opposition Senator, Wade Mark, wanted to know if a reduction in the subvention to the campus had anything to do with the situation has developed to which the Minister responded no.
