Man who ran over ex-girlfriend in Debe charged with murder

A 27-year-old man from Maraval is expected to appear virtually at the South Criminal High Court on Monday 19th August 2024, after he was charged with Murder.

Trevist Nicholas, 27, was charged with Murder on Friday 16th August, following consultations held with Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs S. Jaglal.

According to police reports, around 10 pm on Tuesday 13th August 2024, Keifer Wilson and a male companion were driving south along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway near Debe, when another driver collided with their vehicle.

Following the collision, an argument ensued on the highway, during which time the driver of the other vehicle assaulted Wilson with a spanner.

Fearing for their lives, Wilson and her male friend attempted to flee on foot, but the driver of the other vehicle drove after them, ultimately running over Wilson.

The District Medical Officer later arrived and pronounced Wilson dead at the scene, and a post-mortem examination was ordered.

The assailant was later apprehended by Highway Patrol and Emergency Response Patrol (ERP) officers.
