The man who walked into the Point Fortin police station, confessing to killed “the child” has been released.

Police said the man, of Techier Village, Point Fortin, who they believe is an outpatient of a psychiatric clinic, did not identify the child by name or gender.

But out of an abundance of caution, he was detained by police as his confession came days after two-year-old Kimani Francis was found dead in the Guapo River, near his home at Techier Village, Point Fortin.

Following their investigation, police said the man was nowhere near the scene at the time the Kimani went missing.
