Man to appear in court for stolen tyres

A Penal man will appear before a San Fernando Magistrate on Monday 8th March, 2021, charged with receiving stolen items.
RIAZ ALI received bail in the sum of $50,000 from Justice of the Peace Boodlal Balkaran on March 5th, 2021.

On Thursday 4th March, 2021, a proprietor made a report at the San Fernando Fraud Squad, in which he alleges that during the period March 1st, 2021 and March 4th, 2021, a customer who gave his name as “Micheal” placed an order for 30, 11 R truck tyres, 26, 295 truck tyres and four 12 R truck tyres altogether valued at $106,499.88.

The items were dropped off at the discussed location and the proprietor received payment via two cheques. The cheques were deposited into the business account and both cheques were discovered to be fraudulent.

Through the investigative work of the San Fernando Fraud Squad, Sgt Seepersad, PC Thompson and a party of officers proceeded to Ramdeensingh Drive, Calcutta No 1, Couva.

Upon entering the compound Sgt Seepersad identified himself and proceeded to look around the compound where he observed a quantity of stacked tyres fitting the description given by the proprietor, secured on the left side of a garage on the compound.

RIAZ ALI, 47, of Scotts Road, Penal was arrested and taken to the station where he was charged for the offence.
