A man and woman were both arrested and charged for possession of ammunition.
Elijah Samuel, 20, of Cocorite Terrace, Cocorite and Gisselle Roberts, 31, of Salandy Gardens, Bagatelle, Diego Martin appeared before a Magistrate to answer to the charges.
Samuel pleaded guilty and was sentenced to eight months with hard labour.
Roberts, on the other hand, pleaded not guilty and was granted $100,000 bail. The matter is expected to be called on May 28, where it will go to trial.
Sources say Samuel is an employee of the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard with over 11 years service.
The court heard that on February 20 police responded to a report of gunshots in the Bagatelle area in Diego Martin. When they searched a house in the area, they found six rounds of ammunition. Samuel and Roberts were arrested.
