Man dismembered in Caroni accident

A 66-year-old man was killed horrifically in a vehicular accident in Caroni on Monday night.

Balraj Latchman, a farmer of Squatters Land, Carlsen Field was reportedly hit while trying to cross the northbound lane of the Uriah Butler Highway around 7pm.

However, after being hit, Latchman’s body was run over several times by oncoming speeding vehicles and his body was dismembered.

A 52-year-old man from Diego Martin, who was driving his grey Kia 2700 van north along the highway, reported that on reaching the vicinity of radio 710 radio station, he observed the man on the eastern side of roadway attempt to run across the highway.

He said he attempted to avoid the pedestrian, however, the driver came into contact with the right mirror of the van, causing him to stumble.

However, before he could regain his composure, Latchman was struck by several other vehicles which were proceeding north along the highway.
