Man dies following collision along Valencia Stretch

An accident along the Valencia Stretch, which occurred on Friday night, has claimed the life of a 65-year-old man.

Earl David, of Paul Street, Sangre Grande, died in hospital on Saturday following the two-vehicle head-on collision.

He died at the Sangre Grande Hospital while undergoing emergency surgery around 3:35 am yesterday. David suffered head and internal injuries in the accident.

Reports state that at around 10:55 pm on Friday, police received a report of a road traffic accident along the Valencia Stretch in the vicinity of Swan Quarry Road.

Upon arrival, the officers observed a green Hyundai Accent facing southwest, off the southern side of the roadway with damage to the entire front of the vehicle.

The driver Jean-Marc Sylvester, 32, from Valencia, sustained injuries to his mouth.

The deceased’s vehicle, a silver Toyota Corolla L Touring wagon, was damaged, and his wife, 50 year old Michelle Julien-David was seated in the front passenger seat. She sustained a fractured left leg and is hospitalised.

An investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by Ag Cpl Deosaran of the Valencia Police Post.
