Man detained – vehicle with false plate found on Port

Persons heading to Tobago for the long Easter weekend got a surprise yesterday when officers of the TTPS and the Port Authority Police carried out surprise checks at the Port-of-Spain Ferry Terminal.

During the exercise, a D’abadie man was arrested after the vehicle he was in control of, was found to be bearing false registration plates.

Officers of the Port-of-Spain Criminal Investigations Department, Stolen Vehicles Squad, and a party of officers from the Port Authority Police conducted an exercise at the Port-of-Spain Ferry Terminal.

During the search of motor vehicles at the ferry, officers discovered a white Nissan Tiida bearing false registration plates.

Further investigations revealed that the vehicle in question was involved in a robbery which occurred in El Socorro on November 10th, 2017.

The driver of the vehicle, a 48-year-old man of Verna Marie Street, D’abadie was detained for questioning.
