Man denied bail for sexual penetration of girl, 17

A 36-year-old man appeared virtually before Senior Magistrate Alicia Chankar at the Point Fortin Magistrates’ Court today. He was
denied bail and remanded into custody.

The man was charged with serious indecency, sexual touching, and six counts of sexual penetration of a 17-year-old girl.

He was arrested after the victim and a relative made a report to the South Western Child Protection Unit (CPU).

The accused is expected to reappear on Friday 30th July, 2021.

The teenager alleged that the man had sexual intercourse with her between the period March 2018 and April 2020. WPC Renn-Lashley,
of the South Western CPU, conducted an investigation which resulted in the man being charged on Saturday 3rd July, 2021.

The 36-year-old man of Point Fortin was arrested on Friday 2nd July, 2021.

The Investigation was supervised by Insp (Ag.) Knutt, Sgt (Ag.) Charles and Cpl (Ag.) Callender
