An unemployed man will today appear before a Siparia Magistrate charged with sexual penetration of a minor.
The charge arose out of a report made by an 11-year-old girl’s aunt that she allegedly caught her neighbour sexually assaulting her niece.
According to a report filed by the TTPS, the woman, on December 15th, came home and saw her neighbour sexually assaulting her niece. She immediately attempted to restrain the man before the police arrive, however, the man managed to escape.
Cpl (Ag.) Barclay, of the South-Western Division Child Protection Unit (CPU), began investigations where it was discovered that the suspect returned to the house, realised that the girl’s father was not at home, and held her down and sexually assaulted her.
A manhunt was launched and the suspect was arrested and charged with one count of sexual penetration of a minor.
