Man arrested for stealing friend’s chain at home

A 30-year-old man is expected to be charged with larceny dwelling home following an incident which occurred at his friend’s Arima home yesterday.

According to a TTPS report, the 60-year-old victim, at 7 pm on February 27th, after entertaining a friend at his Lawrence Park, Arima home, he made checks and discovered his $10,000 gold chain missing. He gave no one permission to remove the piece of jewellery.

A report was subsequently made to police following which an immediate investigation was launched.

During the course of the investigation, officers who were on mobile patrol along Roberts Street, observed a man fitting the description of the suspect. The man, however, upon seeing the police cruiser approaching, began running away.

Police officers immediately gave chase and apprehended him a short distance away.
After further enquiries were conducted, officers discovered two pieces which they believed to be a part of the chain.
The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to be charged in connection with the report.
