Man and woman killed in police involved shooting in Carapichaima

Two people were shot and killed during an alleged police involved shooting in Carapichaima on Thursday morning.

According to reports, officers of the Central Division went in search of a suspect around 4am, in connection to reports of a shooting.

They went to Mungal Trace, Orange Field Road, Carapichaima, where one of the suspects was arrested and taken to a police station.

The officers then went to the home of a second suspect at Waterloo Road, where on entering the house, they confronted the suspect Kern Fraser on a bed with a blanket covering most of his body.

It is alleged that Fraser fired a shot at the officers, who then returned fire.

When officers pulled off the blanket the found Fraser and a woman who was hiding under the blanket, suffering gunshot wounds.

Both were taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility where they succumbed to their injuries.

An illegal gun was seized at the scene and police have yet to identify the woman killed.
