Mammoth haul of ammunition found in Maraval

Senior officers are alarmed at the large amount of ammunition discovered in a bush-filled area off Nicholas Street in Maraval.

Reports indicate over 1000 rounds of ammunition was discovered on Wednesday evening. The find consisted of mainly 7.62mm ammunition which is usually used in assault rifles. Also included were 5.56mm ammunition, .45mm ammunition, .40mm ammunition, a scope, two magazines, and a pair of binoculars. The ammunition is expected to be sent to the crime scene unit in Valencia for further examination, and to determine if it can be linked to any reported incidents of criminal activities involving the use of firearms.

No arrests were made, however, police are following certain leads.
