Make The Agriculture Sector More Attractive Urges An Opposition MP

There is a call for more to be done to attract an increase amount of persons to the agriculture sector.

It’s an appeal highlighted by Member of Parliament for Oropouche West, Dave Tancoo.

MP Tancoo was at the time contributing to the debate on the Motion Adopt the Report of the Standing Finance Committee in the parliament on Monday.

MP Tancoo made the comment while reviewing the loan portfolio of the Agriculture Development Bank in the last fiscal year claiming there was a fall in demand for loans via the ADB by farmers.

MP Tancoo suggested the state revisit its agriculture policy in a bid to get the amount of individuals involved in the sector to go up.

The Oropouche West MP also spoke about what he claimed was a cut in funding to the Government Assisted For Tuition Expenses Programme and the implications of this.
