Major cover up in Darryl Smith committee report

The Committee report on the allegations against former Sport Minister Darryl Smith which was commissioned by Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley and the payments of $150,000.00 to a former employee of the Ministry amidst allegations of sexual misconduct by the former Minister has suggested attempts to cover up the issues. A letter purportedly sent by the Permanent Secretary Maurice Suite to the Prime Minister , revealed that from the very beginning there were concerted attempts to cover up the allegations made by Carie Ann Moreau.

The letter dated August 10th 2018 read: ” The manner in which we found the MSYA treated with this matter suggests that from the very beginning to end there was a concerted effort to cover up the allegations of sexual harassment which Miss Moreau had made against the former Minister , Miss Moreau’s complaint was prima facie credible and certainly deserved for it to be taken seriously”.

The Committee which conducted the report now rubbished as unusable by the Prime Minister comprised Jacqueline Wilson, Folade Mutota and Elaine B Greene, and the report found that Moreau was not the only person who raised sexual misconduct allegations, and while there were other incidents, they were considered consensual.
