Not Surprising!
Former UNC MP, Devant Maharaj said it is not surprising to him that Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is claiming to have never seen a report he submitted to her about human trafficking and prostitution transactions within her party.
In a media release, Maharaj said: “Anyone expect the UNC or the Leader to say that she got the report and was aware of it and still continued to support the individuals involved? Thankfully there is an investigation now which may or may not unearth the truth despite the constraints of time.”
He said these transactions were an ‘open secret’ among the membership at the time but overlooked.
“The meretricious statements of Kamla Persad Bissessar ring hollow as not one but two former Cabinet Ministers have corroborated the same allegations that the UNC harbored persons engaged in prostitution and its related activity of human trafficking,” he added.
