Entertainers Machel Montano and Ultimate Rejects were given an honourable mention on ESPN this weekend.
The artistes were name-checked by T&T’s World Cup goalkeeper turned sportscaster Shaka Hislop on the ESPN FC program.
During a segment titled ESPN FC Extra Time, the presenters were discussing Drake’s logo being plastered on the front of Barcelona’s kit in yesterday’s El Clasico matchup against Real Madrid.
They were asked which artiste’s logo they would have on the front of their kit if they were still playing.
Shaka showed that he stays true to his culture despite all his years abroad, saying that calypso music is all that’s on his playlist before adding that he will have opted for Machel Montano or the Ultimate Rejects.
His co-host, former Venezuela striker and MLS standout, Alejandro Moreno, poked some fun at the name “Ultimate Rejects” saying they were no longer being rejected.
However, Shaka stood up for them adding “…those r my dudes”.
