LMCS Supervisor, Dexter Guerra, says after the lone survivor of the Paria tragedy, Christopher Boodram was rescued, instructions were received from the Coast Guard that no one should enter the water.
Mr Guerra said this information was passed on by one of the officials from Paria, Collin Piper.
Mr Guerra made the revelation to the Commission of Enquiry into the tragic incidents which occurred on February 25th this year at Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited on Thursday.
Chairman of the Commission, Jerome Lynch, posed questions to Mr Guerra as he sought further information on the development.
Prakash Ramadhar – the attorney representing two of the victims’ families – also questioned Mr Guerra who admitted the company was prepared to do what is required to save the other divers but were made to comply with the instructions of the Coast Guard.
Attorney for Paria, Gilbert Peterson, remained firm during his line of questioning to Mr Guerra.
