‘Litter-bug’ made to hold “I must not litter” sign

A Laventille man appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate today, charged with littering, disorderly behaviour, obscene language, making threats to a police officer, and failing to give his fingerprints.
JASON WILLIAMS, 45 of Picton Road, pleaded not guilty to three of the offences, namely disorderly behaviour, threats to a police officer and failing to give fingerprints when he appeared before Magistrate Indar Jagroop, in the Port of Spain Third Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday 2nd March, 2021.
He was granted bail in the sum of $50,000 for each offence and is to reappear in court on March 31st 2021.
WILLIAMS pleaded guilty to littering and he was instructed by Magistrate Jagroop to hold a sign saying ‘I will not litter’ in front of the Port-of-Spain City Police Headquarters from 3rd March, 2021 to 5th, March, 2021 from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm.
He was also bonded for one year to keep the peace. Failing this he will be charged $1,000.
