President of the Petroleum Dealers Association Robin Naraynsingh says the liberalisation of the local fuel industry gives gas station operators the opportunity to improve the services offered to the public.
Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show on Wednesday morning, Narynsingh suggested that the operators were tied down by NP’s rules and contracts.
Now, he says, the operators can up their game and provide a better experience to the consumer.
He accused NP of disregarding safety standards at the gas stations which it currently owns.
He is calling for stricter implementation of the standards when ownership is transferred to the operators.
