Lee warns UNC supporters against Vasant Bharath

Vasant Bharath’s ears must have been ringing last night, as his name popped up several times during the UNC’s Virtual Monday night meeting.

UNC MP, David Lee, condemned Bharath’s complaints about the party’s structure and he warned supporters not to let those “like Bharath hit at the UNC.”

Lee said when the UNC lost 2015 elections, Kamla Persad-Bissessar invited Bharath to be an Opposition Senator. He said Bharath that year challenged her for leadership and lost and she re-invited him to be a senator but he declined.

He also slammed Bharath for joining the PNM’s Roadmap Recovery team.

Meanwhile, MP Michelle Benjamin accused Bharath of campaigning against her in the recent General Election, where she said he supported PNM’s Winston “Gypsy” Peters.

She said “This disloyalty and disrespect shows the true nature of Vasant Bharath.”

Bharath is once again challenging Persad-Bissessar in the UNC internal elections.

Persad-Bissessar told supporters last night that “Vasant will get his licking in due course on December 6! Do not fear.”
