Laventille man charged with marijuana trafficking

A Laventille man will appear virtually before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate today charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

SHAQUILLE NOEL, 25, of Eastern Quarry, Laventille, was arrested and charged by PC Cato following an intelligence-led exercise around 3 pm on November 30th.

Acting on information received, officers of the North-Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF) mounted a sting operation which resulted in the interception of a gold Nissan Cefiro motor vehicle along Industrial Road, Morvant.

Upon bringing the vehicle to a stop, NEDTF officers found a lone male occupant in the vehicle.
The police officers proceeded to search the vehicle where they allegedly found four blocks of marijuana which amounted to 2.2 kilogrammes.

The find has an estimated street value of $22,000.
NOEL was arrested and later charged.
Snr Supt Winston Maharaj and Supt Alexander coordinated the exercise which was executed by Sgt Bharath, Cpl Majeed and included PC Mieres, Dass, Andrews, Eastman, Hyde, Cato and Nanan.
