Late salary payment, no back pay- SRP’s speak out

Full-time Special Reserve Police (SRP) are not being paid on time.

The SRP’s highlighted a number of issues which include late payment of salaries, non-payment of back pay, lack of medical insurance and ridicule by the public and regular police officers. They claim that their salaries are now paid manually as opposed to a computerised system that was used in the past, which enabled them to be paid at the same time as regular police officers. They also mentioned the slow process it takes for them to become regular police officers, and the lack of representation at their jobs since the law that governs the SRP’s only cover the rights of part-timers.

They are asking the Prime Minister, Minister of National Security and Commissioner of Police to intervene in the matter and address their issues.
