Epidemiologist Dr. Avery Hinds said that the positive Covid-19 cases have plateaued, meaning that the numbers have decreased to approximately 30 cases per day.
Speaking at a Ministry of Health conference on Monday, he said the plan is to continue to decrease those numbers even though more activity is taking place with the reopening of the economy.
Dr. Hinds says the fatalities continue to be higher in males than females with deaths occurring in the 60+ age groups, although there have been deaths reported in the younger age groups.
He added that the fatalities have had comorditities, and that this would have contributed to their bodies’ inability to respond to new infections such as Covid.
Dr. Hinds said that the virus has not disappeared, which is reflected in the graph below that shows the confirmed Covid-19 cases in T&T from June to October 22.
Finally, he explained the geographic location where the concentrated cases of the Covid-19 cases are located.
