International sporting icon and World Cricket record holder Brian Charles Lara has donated several iconic items to raise funds for seven-year-old Joanna Brathwaite, who needs TT$1.5 million dollars to offset the cost for a life savings bone marrow transplant.
The record holder held a sale at his resident, Brian Lara Drive, Queen’s Park Savannah, on Saturday where he offered his memorabilia which included mainly cricket and golf items, furniture, art and clothing with all the proceeds going toward the fund to help young Joanna Andrea Brathwaithe.
The big hearted star who heard about the girls situation just days ago said: “What made me get involved in the fundraiser for Joanna is because the last person I knew with such a condition it cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. This young girl has so much ahead of her, and sometimes one needs to make that extra effort to make an impact on someone life”.
Joanna’s parents Jason and Colletta are grateful for Lars’s amazing gesture. Joanna has to undergo blood transfusion at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital every two weeks.
Persons wishing to help can make donations to any First Citizens Bank via account number #2595328.
