Labourer arrested for New Year’s Day shooting

A 23-year-old labourer of Enterprise, Chaguanas, was arrested in connection with a shooting incident which occurred on New Year’s Day, Friday 1st January, 2021.

MICHEL GITTENS, according to a TTPS report was charged with shooting with intent and wounding with intent, is due to appear virtually at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court today to answer to the charges.

Around 10 pm on Friday 1st January, 2021, the two men were at the corner of Bhagaloo Street and Chris Terrace, Enterprise, Chaguanas, when it is alleged that they got into an altercation with four men known to them. It is alleged that during the altercation, three of the four men had firearms and shot at the two men along the said roadway, with an intent to cause them grievous bodily harm. One of the victims was wounded in his left leg, however, the other man who feared for his life fled the scene and received no injuries.

GITTENS was arrested on Thursday 21st January, 2021 after officers acted on information received during an anti-crime exercise conducted within the Chaguanas Police District by officers of the Chaguanas C.I.D. and the Central Division Gang Unit.

Investigations are continuing.
