Labourer and vendor arrested for gun and ammo

Two men are assisting police with their investigation into a gun and ammunition find in Canaan, Tobago, yesterday.

On Tuesday 3rd November, 2020, around 9.45 pm, Sgt Wilson and a party of officers attached to the Shirvan Road Criminal Investigations Department (CID) acted on information and proceeded to Milford Road, Canaan, in the vicinity of Penny SaversSupermarket.

Upon arrival, the officers intercepted a white Toyota Hiace panel van and a search of the vehicle was conducted.

The search resulted in one black Beretta pistol fitted with a magazine and 12 rounds of ammunition being discovered.

The men, a 26-year-old fruit vendor of Phillip Charles Road, Petit Valley, Trinidad, and a 24-year-old labourer of Bethlehem, Bethel, Tobago, were immediately arrested.

Investigations are ongoing.
