AKASH BENJAMIN, 33, a labourer of La Brea Trace, Siparia, was arrested and charged for burglary and possession of an imitation firearm.
He pleaded not guilty when he appeared at the Siparia Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
He was granted $150,000 bail with a surety and the matter was postponed to May 28th, 2021.
The burglary occurred in Penal around 12:50 am on April 25th, 2021. An 89-year-old woman was allegedly robbed of $10,000 which she intended to use to bury her deceased husband.
PC Hosein continued enquiries which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
