Kidnapped victim rescued hours after abduction

A 20-year-old man who was kidnapped on Tuesday made his way home safely thanks to the swift action of the police.

Reports indicate that the victim was standing at Antigua Road, Wallerfield, with friends when three vehicles pulled alongside him.

Several persons exited the vehicles.

The man recognised two of the men who asked him about money owed to them.

But when victim said that he did not know about the man, the men hit him several times about the body and forced him into a black NZE Toyota Corolla vehicle that sped off.

A broadcast message was sent and officers attached to the Northern Division Task Force Area East, the Highway Patrol Unit, and the Arima Criminal Investigation Department (CID) responded.

The Toyota Corolla vehicle was later intercepted on the westbound lane of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, Mausica.

The three suspects, ages ranging from 21 years to 29 years, were arrested while the victim was found inside the vehicle.

The suspects were taken to the Arima Police Station, while the rescued man was taken to the Arima General Hospital to seek medical attention

Police are continuing investigations.
