The San Juan man who was kidnapped and thrown over a precipice died on Monday night.
Ruben Prout had told police when he was rescued, that he was kidnapped from his home on November 6 and held by his captors before they threw him over the ledge along the North Coast Road in Maraval. He was eventually rescued by police when passersby heard his calls for help. He was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he had been operated on to reduce the swelling in his brain. He also suffered several broken bones. He had a prosthetic leg after an accident left him without one leg.
A 29-year-old man, who had previously surrendered to police for the crime, is assisting with investigations.
