Khadijah Ameen wants the MoE to intervene on UTT’s 300% fee increase

An Opposition Member of Parliament is calling on the Minister of Education to intervene and bring some form of relief to the students at University of Trinidad and Tobago.

It’s an appeal coming from Member of Parliament for St Augustine, Khadijah Ameen, amid the reported increased of student registration fees by 300% ahead of the new academic year in September.

The St Augustine MP says it is a known recommendation that when so ever a country in a period of slum and slow economic activity, it is the best time to invest in education.

The Opposition MP says when economic activity picks up, and then the new graduates will be able to quickly fill new positions which come up.

MP Ameen says additionally, government at this time should greatly consider investing in education, especially in sectors that can help diversify the economy.
