Kevin Ramnarine says crime not dealt with in the Budget

Former Energy Minister Kevin Ramnarine says that the issue of crime was not dealt with in the Budget Presentation on Monday.

He said according to projected data Trinidad and Tobago is heading to the highest murder rate in 2024.

He revealed that based on projections T&T will probably end the year on 646 murders.

Ramnarine said that while he believes that the TTPS are in need of more resources like police vehicles, he believes that in a few short years they will become derelict and unusable.

He said that boarder protection has been an issue for some time and was also not addressed in the Budget.

He referenced the issue of porous borders that have not been addressed with the result being a proliferation of guns in the country.

However the Former Energy Minister was challenged by the hosts of the Show who informed him that in reality the Finance minister did deal with crime and national security in the Budget.

Ramnarine then stated that he had not seen the entire Budget, to which he was questioned on making definitive statements on a Budget he had not seen in its entirety.
