Kangaloo to receive Instruments of Election today

The Instrument of Election to the office of the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, will officially be handed over to President-elect Christine Kangaloo today.

The presentation will be made by Speaker of the House Bridgid Annisette-George, at a ceremony in the Rotunda of the Red House in Port of Spain at 11am.

Kangaloo was elected last Friday following a contested election, in which she secured a comfortable majority of 48 votes against nominee Israel Khan, SC, who received 22 votes.

She is expected to be sworn in on March 19 and will be President for a period of five years.
