Kamla’s Communications Unit apologises for plagiarising congratulations note

The plagiarism saga involving Kamla Persad-Bissesar continues, as her communications team has now issued an apology following Saturday’s congratulatory post to US President-elect Joe Biden, which raised many eyebrows.

The said message was a near copy of an original post by British politician Sir Keir Starmer.

In a post to her Facebook page this morning, the communications team apologised for their serious mistake this weekend.

They claimed that in their haste to post a congratulatory note to Mr Biden, they used material from the message issued by the British Labour Party leader in a draft version of the communication they recommended as a template, which was to be adopted for her own congratulations.

The statement said that the draft should obviously not have been posted, nor edited in an attempt to address the original mistake.

The Communications team said they regret the error and the embarrassment caused to Mrs Persad-Bissessar, and they take full responsibility for this critical error.
