Kamla: UNC had no part in highway protest

Leader of the United National Congress, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, is distancing her party from yesterday’s protests along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway.

Just after 5am yesterday, areas near the Northbound lanes of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway were blocked by truckloads of sand and gravel along with burning debris.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley took to Facebook and suggested that the UNC and OWTU President Ancel Roget were somehow connected to the protest.

Speaking last night at the UNC’s Monday night forum, Mrs Persad-Bissessar questioned Dr Rowley ‘s evidence to support his claim.
