“Let us stand our ground together to push forward and put our party back in government.”
Those were the words of Opposition leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, as she appealed to her supporters and the population to stand their ground and work to push the PNM out.
Speaking at an inter-faith service to mark the opening of the UNC’s new party headquarters at Mulchan Sieuchan Road, Chaguanas and celebrate the 34th anniversary of the founding of the party, Persad-Bissessar reaffirmed her position and advocated once again for the ‘stand your ground’ legislation to help stop home invasions.
She declared, “Let us stand our ground together to push forward and put our party back in government.”
Persad-Bissessar urged citizens to look forward to the future with hope, despite the darkness around them, saying, “Only the UNC has the ability to prevail and bring about positive development in TT for all.”
“Only we can rescue TT,” she said.
According to Persad-Bissessar, the UNC is the only party that can rescue the country as it possesses the experience, track record, intellectual capacity and “true love for the people and not for the select few.”
“The only way forward now is together let us unite on the road to victory,” she said.
She said the party is more committed to national development. She said the new UNC headquarters are leased and “did not cost no $100 million.” All elected UNC representatives will make a monthly contribution that will go towards maintaining and operating the new facilities, she revealed.
Persad-Bissessar appealed to party supporters to fight with a new spirit to take the UNC into the government.
“You will never have a leader who loves you like I do,” she said.
